  • Design, build, and restore luxury custom apartments and townhouses throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn; projects span from modern duplex penthouse to six-story historic brownstone restoration (sample project list included below
  • Design and build large-scale (up to 150,000 sq. ft.) retail locations, corporate headquarters, and government offices throughout greater New York metropolitan area 
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers (MEPS), draftsmen, and CAD programmers to interpret their plans, amend designs for specific locations, and implement process for building and developing residential and corporate properties 
  • Negotiate contracts, vet, and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and technical companies 
  • Manage client relations throughout total project lifespan, from job acquisition to daily communication to project close-out 
  • Approve all budgets and timelines; supervise project accounting process; maintain accounting documentation, including accounts payable and receivable, balance sheets, payroll, and insurances 
  • Employ 25 carpenters, laborers, painters, and office staff; direct supervisor for five field managers and three office staff 

 

Empire State Drywall, New York, NY 1987 – 1992 

Partner 

  • Incorporated a lathe, carpentry, and drywall firm to serve as subcontractor for builders, including Turner Construction, Herbert Construction, BR Fries, and Richter and Ratner, among others 
  •  Built major corporate headquarters and professional sites, including CBS Studios, Century 21, and boutiques within Bloomingdale’s and Macy’s (sample project list included below
  • Coordinated with architects, engineers, vendors, and all other subcontractors to provide custom carpentry services 
  • Oversaw all project accounting, including estimates, budgets, timelines, project close-outs, subcontractor contracts, AIA documents, and coordination with NYC DOB expeditors 
  • Hired and employed 35 union carpenters, laborers, and lathers, as well as full-time office staff; direct supervisor for six office staff 

 

Mako Contracting, Inc., New York, NY 1979 – 1987 

Partner 

  • Founded contracting company to design and build corporate offices and commercial sites throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn; designed and renovated over 300 apartment units 
  • Employed 25 carpenters, painters, laborers, and office staff, as well as over 20 part-time employees 
  • Served as carpenter, laborer, and painter to assist with multiple jobs
